PREPARING YOUR OYSTERS

We love that you are bringing home the joy of oysters. We ask that you keep them cold and happy in your fridge until you start opening them.

To help you present your oysters, we have provided you with some rockweed and crushed ice. The seaweed provides a nice base while the crushed ice helps keep them cold as the waters they were harvested from. You can use the tray they came in or any platter you prefer.

Opening oysters can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Oyster knives come in all shapes and sizes, and what they all have in common is a rigid blade and a point that initiates access into the shell. A kitchen towel works as a good way to secure the oyster and protect your hand. A really quick and informative video from our friends at America’s Test Kitchen demonstrates the opening process nicely.

There is a lot of information out there to help you enjoy these beautiful oysters, so please dive in.
